King Edward's School Home

An independent day school for boys aged 11 to 18

Teacher of Economics and Business

King Edward's School is seeking an Economics and Business teacher to join an exciting, positive and forward-looking department in an exceptional school. Candidates should be willing to help with current activities and to share new ideas. The department's staff have considerable experience and so plenty of support is available to help a colleague who is new to the IB or who is less familiar with some aspects of the syllabus.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) would be an advantage, However, we are also able to offer a salaried initial teacher training post via the King Edward's Consortium (KEC). This is subject to successful completion of the KEC's selection process. Trainees are required to undertake the duties of a qualified teacher but with a reduced timetable allocation. They are also released for central training at the KEC and work towards the award of QTS. This programme is funded by the School. The KEC is rated no.1 of all school-centred initial teacher training providers in the country. More information can be found at:

King Edward's is one of the most interesting, diverse and intellectually ambitious independent schools in the country, situated in a green ‘oasis' close to the heart of England's second city; both the School and the city are at an exciting stage of development.

This post affords an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join an exceptional team.

The School teaches the International Baccalaureate Diploma (although IB experience is not essential for this post), and the salary scale is significantly above the state sector.

Closing date: Noon on Monday, 15 January 2018
Interview date: Week commencing 22 January 2018
