King Edward's School Home

An independent day school for boys aged 11 to 18

Rugby is played throughout the two winter terms with up to 18 sides competing against Midlands schools each Saturday. Up to five U12 XVs and three U13 XVs are fielded and two from each of the subsequent years, each week. There are five senior fifteens. This means that there is a great opportunity for all to participate and over 200 school fixtures per season.

The school has five pitches on South Field immediately in front of the school buildings and a 1st XV pitch at our Eastern Road playing fields.

A feature of rugby at King Edward's is the senior tour every two years. Recent destinations have included: Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Japan, Dubai, Argentina and Brazil; The Senior Rugby Tour 2013 went to China and Malaysia. Collective and individual honours are regularly achieved, from Birmingham Cup victories and success in the national Daily Mail Cup (U18 National Quarter Finals 2012) to county representative honours and international schoolboy selection (5 in the last decade).

Miles Benjamin, who was captain of the school 1st XV in 2006/7, played for England in the Under 20 World Cup and England Saxons in the Churchill Cup is currently playing for Leicester Tigers in the Premiership. Last season Ryan Miller represented England U19 Rugby League in Test Matches against Australia and the Home Nations.
