Facilities and resources

The school library occupies a large purpose-built room, located centrally in the school. It includes 12 computers and provides suitable tables and chairs for study and a photocopier/printer. Adjoining it is the library annex, which houses the Fiction section and DVD collection.

The library has a stock of over 20,000 printed books. Non-fiction material reflects the curriculum as far as possible, and also provides for recreational interests. Fiction aims to cover as broad a spectrum of writers as possible.

Library resources also include over 50 periodical and newspaper titles and other non-book items, including over 600 DVDs and online subscriptions to Encyclopedia Britannica, Image Quest, Think: Philosophy for Everyone, Grove Music Online, New Scientist, English Review Archive, Who Next, History Today and JStor.

Regular author visits, book fairs, reading group meetings and competitions enhance the pupil experience.
